This four day program gives our youngest students an opportunity to experience what it will be like to be a kindergartener! This summer adventure can give them an extra boost of confidence for their first day of school. Students will enjoy fun activities and crafts, and also learn basic routines to help them transition into kindergarten. Activities will be sent home that will help them further prepare for the transition to school. You may choose any site that works for you and are not restricted to your child’s home school. Cancellation Policy If you are unable to take the class you can request a refund before the second day of class. There will be a $25 deduction from any refunds except programs canceled by Community Ed. Behavior Guidelines Please remember that participation in Community Education programs is voluntary. Students are expected to act respectfully throughout their participation. Community Education reserves the right to remove a student from a program at any time if they display inappropriate or unsafe behaviors.

Safety Town is an educational program designed to instill safety awareness and preventive practices in young students. This camp covers safety around strangers, fire hazards, water safety, bus and traffic awareness, and poison prevention. Students engage in hands-on learning experiences within the newly renovated Safety Town village, complemented by a field trip to the West Des Moines Police and Fire departments, and diverse classroom activities that reinforce these critical safety concepts. Safety Town is for students entering kindergarten in the fall. *Field trip to the police station and fire department will be on Thursday *Graduation (parents welcome) will be held at the end of Friday's class (last 30 minutes) Registration Deadline A $25 late registration fee will be charged if you register less than one week before the program’s start date.
