Safety Town is an educational program designed to instill safety awareness and preventive practices in young students. This camp covers safety around strangers, fire hazards, water safety, bus and traffic awareness, and poison prevention. Students engage in hands-on learning experiences within the newly renovated Safety Town village, complemented by a field trip to the West Des Moines Police and Fire departments, and diverse classroom activities that reinforce these critical safety concepts. Safety Town is for students entering kindergarten in the fall. Registration Deadline A $25 late registration fee will be charged if you register less than one week before the program’s start date. Cancellation Policy If you are unable to take the class you can request a refund before the second day of class. There will be a $25 deduction from any refunds except programs canceled by Community Ed. Behavior Guidelines Please remember that participation in Community Education programs is voluntary. Students are expected to act respectfully throughout their participation. Community Education reserves the right to remove a student from a program at any time if they display inappropriate or unsafe behaviors.
